Sealing a bath

I learned to seal a bath today

I watched the very best

I turned to the counsel of YouTube

And so far it’s passed the test.

I made sure the bath was nice and dry

And then I clapped my hands

‘Argh, Argh, Argh!’ I said to the sky

And the shower helped finish my plans.

It filled up the bath,

I rolled around,

And balanced a ball on my nose,

If you need help with your bath

I can say with confidence

‘That seal on YouTube knows’.

An unexpected album

An unexpected album

May well be worth a listen

Give a chance to the unknown

Enjoy the notes all glisten.

Each song a discovery

Of tunes unknown

Each one a fire starter

The album in question

Is of course

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter.

Curiosity is a curious thing

I couldn’t help but give it time

I found such joy in discovering

New music, and old combined.

Maybe this is the start

Of a new era for my ears

Listening to artists who passed me by

There have been many over the years.

Opening my mind and ears as well

To brand new voices and tunes

I assumed ‘not for me‘

But they may well be

The start of something new.

A new book

I’ll take a quick look

Maybe a new book

I’ll have to wait and see

When I get there

I hungrily stare

At the piles of pages before me

I take a long glance

They don’t stand a chance

Once of these books will be bought

I rifle some pages

It happens in stages

Until the right book is caught.

This is the one

My brain strikes a gong

And just as I start to read

The new book I’ve got

Like iron that’s hot

It strikes me as quite good indeed.

The decision

A decision was made

The evidence was clear

Left for the world to see.

An Easter Egg swapped

For beer- a job lot

And no, it was not me.

The final day

It rained and poured

The wind whipped windows

I sat inside and worked

I busied myself

I’m busy this

Then silence was all I heard.

It was five o clock

Time to switch off

On holiday for seven days

I looked outside

No close to spy

Just sun, I was amazed.

Goodbyes

Goodbyes are never easy

For people who helped you grow

You think of who you were when you met

And things you didn’t know

A boss, a friend, a colleague

The laughter in the room

It’s been a treat to work together

I hope I’ll see you soon!

Ready for a break

I’m ready for a break

My brain feels like a snake

Ready to slither away

Trying to grasp

Each blade of grass

But watching them all slip away.

My brain is quite frazzled

From questions, I’m dazzled

I just can’t think of the phrase

I’m ready to sleep

For maybe a week

And wind my brain out of its maze.

Things to do

Every day

The things to do

Seem to just get longer

But when you look back

The lists you’ve cracked

Have helped you to grow stronger

Each day feels minute

No time to progress

At least that’s how it feels

But look back on a year

All the things you feared

And the layers you have peeled.

Each day a discovery

Of something new

Every moment is like a star

You don’t see that much

When standing close

But its size can be seen from afar.

So remember that time

Is a galaxy

Always more to explore

If you find the end

Then you my friend

Have no more lists to endure.

Super Bowl

It’s a super day for bowling

And eating bright blue cakes

Everybody smiling

People happy all over the place

It’s a super day for prizes

And a super job well done

Because you’re a super human

And lots of super fun.

A poem for you

A poem for you

Miss Megsy Maloo

You brighten up

Every day

You wanted a poem

So I better start growing

A collection

Which starts off this way.

Each day you’re so kind

You hear out my mind

And make me laugh

Throughout the hours

Let this be the start

Of a literary ode

To the girl

With bakery powers.
